At FiftyThree, we created Paper and Pencil to help you capture ideas and express yourself. Our community of creative thinkers have responded in kind, making everything from doodles to To Do lists. Simply put – we all need to get our ideas down and our emotions out! This is why the latest Disney & Pixar film Inside Out struck a chord, not only with our team, but moviegoers around the world.
Our community enjoyed the film so much, they sketched and remixed their favorite characters using our app. Here are a few templates we recently discovered that are ripe for reinterpretation.
An important decision when designing a Bluetooth® Low Energy, aka “Bluetooth® Smart,” device like our stylus Pencil is selecting a battery. Measuring battery characteristics provides critical data to help select the right battery for a device, and one of the characteristics we measure is how a battery’s voltage changes as it drains. Here, we detail this specific measurement and the lessons we learned in automating the collection of voltage data over time.
Scott Olson works as a web engineer right here at FiftyThree. When he’s not making tools for our community, he's using them to create digital masterpieces, like this carefully crafted grid which has been remixed hundreds of times on Mix. Read our Q&A with Scott to learn how he does it.

This year, LTA incorporated Paper and iPad into its program and the resulting work was on display at the Guggenheim Museum in June 2015. To commemorate our partnership with LTA, filmmakers Michael Tyburski and Eddy Vallante created this short film in collaboration with our team.
